Southwest Asia (also known as the middle east) is one of the earliest civilizations in history. In ancient times it has been conquer over and over again by other powerful civilizations. The Southwest of Asia has been in the middle of at least 20 major conflicts. It has been the birthplace of three major religions, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.
Israel's major religions are very intertwined with its history. In about 1000 B.C. King David and King Solomon made the kingdom of Hebrew official. In 332 B.C Jerusalem was taken over by Alexander the Great from Macedonia. In 63 B.C. the Romans took over. Later, the Byzantine Empire conquered. Then the emperor of the Byzantine Empire called Constantine became a Christian. For a while Israel was a Christian center, but then the Arabs (Muslims) took over. After the First World War Israel was run by the British so some of the Jewish were allowed to live there. In May 14 of 1948 Israel was free.
In Israel's history there are many treaties. It was all well until the Egyptians started to fight. In the end they made a peace treaty in March 26, 1979. Then started another war, Israel against the Palestinian. About 1982 until 1987 the war continued, but it ended up with another treaty. In between then and 1994 Israel and the Jordan had another fight. There was a treaty made in 1994. Even until modern days the Palestinians and the Israel people continue to argue.
Turkey is a new country that is in an old land. Turkey was created when the World War I ended and developed in nineteenth century. The history of Anatolia's came before the Turks became the civilizations. Anatolia is a geographical feature that covered about two thirds
of the modern Turkey country. The Ottoman Empire had the Anatolia's power, however, the Turkish history established in 1923 under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal called the 'Father of Turk'. Mustafa Kemal's goal was to end the times of Ottoman Turkey and create a new country that is related to western Europe.
1923 to 1938 equal rights for women started. In about 1987 to 1991, Turkey succeeded in two parliamentary elections and demonstrated a duty to pluralist politics and peaceful transfer of power. The first woman prime minister for Turkey was a woman called Tansu Çiller.
Two holy cities, Mecca and Medina, is located in Saudi Arabia (Many Muslims pilgrimage to the holy city Mecca). It's also the fatherland of the world's second largest religion, Islam. In the year 622, the calender of Islam begins. The year that this calender started is called "Hegira", which means Muhammad's journey from Mecca. Other people tried to invade to take over the peninsula. In 1517 and the middle of the 18th century, the land was divided into two because the Ottoman Empire was taken over. A guy named Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab started a movement called the Wahhabi movement that spread across whole Saudi Arabia, during 1745. The purpose for this movement was to be freed from evil and the changes of the religion. During 1811, there was a holy war called the Jihad against the divided countries and was successful in allying most of Saudi Arabia. But then in 1818, the Ottomans and the Egyptians took over the power of the Wahhabis.
Saudi Arabia was mostly built up by the King Ibn Saud, who reign from 1882-1953. He is also known as one of the descendants of the Wahhabi. In 1901, he took over the modern capital known as Riyadh and made himself the leader. He conquered both Hejaz in 1906 and Nejd in 1924-1925, making both of the regions under the rule of the Wahhabi. In 1932, the two regions joined Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabia was governed by Sharia with the system of absolute monarchy. Asir was considered Saudi Arabia a year after.
